Nutrition Response Testing is a system used to determine exactly what nutrition a patient needs to get well. With success rates often in the 90% and better range, most new patients have been referred by other satisfied patients. However, Nutrition Response Testing is quite different from anything most people have experienced. Before being examined, it is important to understand what Nutrition Response Testing is and what our recommendations are based on – otherwise you will be less likely to follow through and actually do what is needed to get well. There are two parts to Nutrition Response Testing – the analysis and the personalized nutrition program.
The analysis is done through testing the body’s own neurological reflexes and acupuncture points. The neurological reflexes are derived from the part of the nervous system that controls the function of each and every organ. The acupuncture points are part of the system of Chinese medicine, which is thousands of years old.
Nutrition Response Testing is a study of how the different points on the surface of the body relate to the flow of energy in the organs. Each Nutrition Response Testing reflex represents a specific organ, tissue, or physiological process and the energy of these points indicates the level of functioning of the area and the effect it is having on the body. By testing these reflexes, we have a system of monitoring your body at each visit in order to identify exactly what the body needs and how well those needs are being met. This system has proven to be extremely accurate clinically.
Testing of the Reflexes
The nervous system is basically an electrical system that controls and coordinates every function in the body. An electro-cardiograph tracks activity of the heart by using electrodes placed on the skin to record the energy of the heart – the results are then displayed in the form of a graph.
In Nutrition Response Testing, instead of connecting electrodes to the points being tested, the doctor contacts these points with one hand while testing the muscle of your extended arm with their other hand. If the reflex being contacted is active, the nervous system responds by temporarily reducing energy to the muscles of the body and, when tested, the extended arm will weaken. This weakness signifies underlying stress or dysfunction that is affecting your health.
Let’s say the liver or kidney reflexes are active – what then? The next step is to determine what is stressing the organ and causing dysfunction. Some possible stressers are food sensitivities, heavy metal toxicities, chemical toxicities and immune challenges. Every substance that exists has an energetic pattern that can be recorded by an oscilloscope.
The body reacts to the energetic pattern of a substance in the same way it reacts to the substance itself. In order to determine what is adversely affecting an organ, vials imprinted with the energetic pattern of the various stressers are tested against weak organ reflexes.
Next, specific nutritional products are tested against the weak organ reflexes to determine which ones bring the reflexes back to strength. Different products have different functions – some promote detoxification, some assist digestion, some enhance immune function, while others heal and repair a specific organ. A doctor trained in Nutrition Response Testing has extensive knowledge of these products knowing which of them to test in a given situation.
Personalized Nutrition Program
The personalized nutrition program consists of nutritional supplementation as well as adherence to a diet that is specific for your body. In Nutrition Response Testing, we only use supplements made from whole foods. Most supplements on the market are synthetic chemical fractions of vitamin structures that were manufactured in a laboratory. The body is not able to use them efficiently and thus high doses are needed. Synthetic vitamins may sometimes alleviate symptoms but they are never able to correct underlying dysfunction.
As an example of the difference between manufactured and whole food vitamins, synthetic vitamin C is made only of ascorbic acid whereas ascorbic acid is just a small percentage of the natural vitamin C complex found in whole foods – bioflavonoids, tyrosinase and P factor are just a few of the other components. Nutrients need to be in proper balance – supplementing with only one part of a vitamin complex will not only be ineffective but, over time, will actually lead to other nutritional deficiencies.
Each cell, tissue, and organ in your body is in the process of replacing itself every day, month, and year. Making the correct nutrients available to upgrade or maintain health at the cellular level leads to healthy tissues and organs and thus a healthy body.
Whole food supplements are extremely effective at healing, repairing, and restoring function in the body. However, it is important to understand that supplements are just that – a supplement to a healthy diet – not compensation for an unhealthy one! Based on your test results, we will teach you how to eat optimally for your body.
Nutrition Response Testing is for the proactive patient as it requires active participation in attending to your diet and taking your supplements. But this path will lead to health and, if you choose to commit to it, you will feel the results.
That being said, not every patient has a nutritional component as the cause of their symptoms. If our analysis indicates that you are not a Nutrition Response Testing case, then while a nutritional program may give you some benefit, it will not give you the maximum results you desire.
If our analysis confirms that you are a Nutrition Response Testing case, our experience is that nothing else will come close to the restoration of health you will be able to achieve using Nutrition Response Testing.
